Blog Worthy....FOR SURE!

Aug 13- So tonight we were sitting at dinner and somehow we were talking about what Addison and Landon wanted to be when they grew up.  Addison likes to tease that she is NOT going to college!  Landon didn't really commit to anything and then Addison pipes up.

"I want to be a secret agent."
Bill said "oh so you want to do what I do?"
"No, remember those people we saw at the Omaha Zoo?  They were wearing that thing on their head and it was black."
I had NO idea what she was talking about. Both Bill and I thought maybe she was talking about the Amish family that we had seen at the zoo.  The ones that the gorillas had issues with?  But no....she went on to say that they had a long black thing on.  I remembered at some point having seen some nuns at the zoo.  Sure enough that is what she was talking about.  I had a VERY hard time not busting out laughing.
And of course Bill, "That is GREAT you can be a nun."
The we had to explain that they weren't secret agents but they taught kids and worked for God.  She was okay with that.  She concluded with "I think I'll be a teacher."

Oh boy!  This job sure is entertaining!

HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY LANDON!!

Aug 3- Happy Happy Birthday to our little Landon James who turned three!!!  I really can't believe that he is three already!

He woke up to a decorated house...with his room door decorated!  He was really excited about that!  He came into our room talking all about how there were these things hanging down and there were balloons...he was so excited!

 Birthday Waffles with whip cream!

So to celebrate with Landon on his day we took him to his very first movie!  We went to see Monsters University!  It was cute!  I think that Landon enjoyed it!  He sat through the whole thing..I was surprised we didn't need a mid-show potty break! He was sure tired out though...he fell asleep on the way home!

 ice cream after the movie......
 one tired little boy!
Bill built this awesome ship out of a moving box for the party!  Isn't it amazing!!!!  I LOVE how it turned out!  So much so that it found its way back down to the playroom!  The kids really seemed to have fun with it too!!

It was lots of fun planning the party!  there were mini fruit pizzas that were shaped like anchors, a fruit boat, boat sandwiches for the kids, blue jello with flags....it was lots of fun!

BEST BUDDIES!!

We were SO lucky to spend the day with our amazing friends from Omaha!  Jess, Rob, Bo, Baby Jack, and Rob's cousin Jen came to see us in D.C.!! We were able to meet them on Friday and do a little sight seeing!  We had lunch from a truck and then went to the Museum of Natural History!  Bo and Landon really missed each other!!  It was so cute to see them together!  I also REALLY REALLY missed my friend and it was great to spend some time with Jess! I have been really home-sick and needed that little bit of Omaha-happiness!

Are these two the cutest little boys ever or what?

60th Anniversary of the Korean War

July 27- Bill was able to spend the morning volunteering at the Korean War Memorial.  There was a special presentation because it is the 60th Anniversary of the Armistice.  The Korean War is the war that my Grandpa fought in. Bill volunteered to honor my Grandpa and the sacrifices that he made so long ago!  He never talked about very much and after reading a little about it I understand why.  I do know that he was on the front lines and the thing I remember him telling me is "I hope my kids never have to see what I did." That alone is pretty powerful.  I am so thankful that Bill was able to be there and hear President Obama speak and address and properly thank those veterans that were present.  I was able to watch the program streaming live on the Pentagon Channel.  It was very powerful and I thought the that President shared a very good message.

Here is the link in case you want to see the presentation....

I was very thankful that Bill was able to take a couple of pictures for me!!! He got to watch the ceremony and if you watch the video you will see him!  Behind the sidewalk third row back on the end!!

Bill thought this was funny....the guy didn't even realize he had a butterfly on his head!

This is what Summer is ALL ABOUT!

SQUIRT GUNS!  I made the mistake of sending Bill and the kids to target to pick out squirt guns.  Oh boy did we have squirt guns....enough for the whole neighborhood!  The Sheehan kiddos decided to join us for some water fun!  Addison....decided quickly that she didn't want to get all wet so she spent time socializing with our neighbor Linda.  Landon LOVED it and so did Bill!  Bill got himself a huge super soaker!  It was like he was twelve again!  It was great!
