Family Day Cruise....that we couldn't attend!

June 18-
So the ship got underway today for a family day cruise....that we couldn't go on since Landon was not 8!  What a random age!  He looks 8 but the XO goes to our church and his son couldn't go either.  So, we weren't going to get by breaking the rules....I am married to the ultimate rule follower anyway.  But, we decided we would go watch it come in....so we took popsicles, a blanket and a book and went out on the sea wall and waited.

It was pretty cool to see it underway.  It moves so smoothly and quickly for something so massive.  We saw it around 3 or so.  People weren't allowed to get off until 5pm and they had to be on at 6 am.  So, it would have been a long day...but it would have been neat.  Oh well, we did get to see it and take some pictures.

Father's Day

June 17-

Father's Day!!  Addison and Landon are so lucky to have such a great Dad!  Today at church Addi decided to give him an amazing present!  She sang "Salt & Light" by Lauren Daigle.  It is a song that she has grown to love after hearing it on her CD.  She went to Jeana after church one day and suggested that she sing it sometime.  She didn't know the song and asked Addison to sing it...she did and said "why don't you sing it with me?"  So, Addison, after some convincing, said yes.

SHE WAS AMAZING!  I am not just saying that because I am her Mom....she barely practiced and went out there like a pro!  I was smiling and had happy tears...it was so great!  Bill was one proud Papa!!  That too was so fun to see.  I think I have watching the video a million times.  It never gets old!

We has a fun relaxing day!

Text Message Clarity?

May 30-
Bill and I have been talking a lot about what is next...in terms of orders a year from now as well as what we should do post-Navy.  We do love So. Cal but it isn't close to MN or family.  However, the job market here is better for Bill than MN would be...but then there is the cost of living as well....there are lists of pros and cons to each.  We have looked at some houses, looked at MN houses, Bill has looked at the job market in both places...we just don't know.  More will be clarified once he gets orders to the next place.  But for now it is like a snow globe in my head.

So, I am driving down Hwy 75 on my way to Costco to pick up some photos for preschool.  It is quiet and I start thinking of our situation.  I just prayed and asked for clarity one way or another.   My phone is chiming the text message chime.  I am driving so I ignore it.  I get to Costco and pick up my phone to see what it was all about and there is a message from Pastor Robb.  A text message that came in as I was praying for clarity.  Ahhhh...who knew that God worked via text message??  Pastor Robb was asking me if I would be interested in a job at church as the Family and Youth Director.  Wait....what?

I of course was not looking for a job but was a little curious.  So, I met with him to learn more.  It is the job that Jen, his wife, has been doing interim.  Youth and Family ministry for 0-5th grade.  It sounded fun but was 20-30 hours a week meaning I couldn't do preschool too.  I got the information, thought about it, went back and asked more questions, found out that it could be 20 so I could still do preschool, still had a hard time making the decision but decided to say YES!  It sounded like a fun job, a good challenge and finally something more than a high schooler would do.  Pastor Robb said that every time he started to think of the job that I popped into his mind.  Our first Sunday's were the same.  So, I don't know if it was that connection, the law enforcement connection (he used to be a probation officer) or what.  But, I am excited to be going down a new path.  It will be a busy one....I am going to do preschool 2-days per week, church and I am still the PTO President.  But it will be good.  Deployment will fly by....probably not....but I will be busy anyway!

Last Day of Kindergarten and 3rd Grade

June15- Today was the LAST day of school!  Landon got out a little early and Bill was able to sneak away to pick him up.  It was a fun surprise.  Addison got out a little bit later.  It was great that Bill could be there.  I really can't believe that my baby is done with Kindergarten.  That means he is an actual kid...that is sad to me.

Landon had a great year.  He LOVED Mrs. Wheeler and so many of his teachers.  He really likes math and is doing math at a 1st grade level.  He is doing well in reading although it isn't his favorite.  He of course likes recess and lunch....anything that means social time!  He participated in run club this year and ran about 30 miles total.

Addison also had a good year.  She is opposite of Landon and LOVES to read and write but doesn't love math so much.  She is a great, sweet, helpful student.  Mrs. Hatheway and her got along so well. She is excited for summer but loves school too.  She also ran in run club, despite her best excuses, and ran just a bit more than her brother.  I think only a mile or two.

We do love Silver Strand...which is good considering I am the incoming PTO President.  I was elected this Spring.  It was the only position running opposed.  I had lots of great people working to help me get elected.  Since we had only been here for a year I didn't know that many people.  But, I guess in the end I won by a bunch (thanks to a great campaign team...Shelly!!!) It will be a good challenge next year while Bill is busy at work.

Addison's Concert

June 4-
Addison sang in the Silver Strand Choir this year.  She had a great time.  The concert that they did was a Disney theme.  It was fun.  Addison did a great job!  I tried to video it with my phone but it wasn't great!  It won't load properly.

Here are Addi with two friends....Elise and Leah

Random events....

May 20

The Crown Cove Aquatic Center is right by our house...Landon and Bill rode bikes there on Saturday only to find out they were having an event on Sunday.  They gave away life jackets and got to do some cool stuff.  I left to host a baby shower but they stayed to stand up paddle board and such.
I Love Landon!  He always brings me flowers that were "on the ground".  He knows he will be in trouble if he picks them!  It is a sweet thing to do.  Just to know that he is thinking of me while he is out playing makes my heart very happy!
Sand Soccer!  So, we decided to do NADO Soccer...this was one of his first practices.  On the beach!  There was a tournament over the weekend.  We didn't go but he still had fun in the sand!  I am not sure he played a whole lotta soccer...but he had fun just the same!

Luau

May 19-
LUAU day at Silver Strand.  The kiddos dressed up in crazy outfits.  The outfit Landon was wearing was one that came from Nana.  I thought there was NO WAY he would wear it...but he happily did.  Addison on the other hand wouldn't wear the cute Hawaiian shirt I had for her.  They totally surprise me!!

Walk on the Beach

May 16- Bill and I were able to take a walk on the beach.  Well, we were talking as we were walking when one of the kelp piles started to move.  Come to find out it wasn't a kelp pile at all.  It was a baby seal.  He was so fun to watch.  He was so awkward on land but once he got in the water so very graceful.  It was so cool to watch!  Sadly, on our way back we saw a big seal that had died washed up on the beach.  I got worried about the little seal....I hope he stays safe!

Mother's Day

May 13- Mother's Day!  I of course was spoiled!  Bill cooked me yummy food and it was a great day!

In the backyard!

My not so little anymore, adorable girl!

This is the cake that Landon made for me.....a little heavy on the sprinkles...but it was yummy!

Spring Soccer

The great thing about spring soccer.....it is in the CAYS!  Wow, so easy to just walk or run over real quick.  It was amazing!  I am not going to know what to do when I have to actually plan ahead to get there!  We had a great coach...Coach Katie.  Landon took to playing goalie...this stressed me out more than I would like to admit!  It was a good year....we are toying with the idea of select....I guess you can do development league where he practices with select but doesn't go to tournaments.  Then he would still play fall rec.

Landon playing goalie...Go Red Fire Ninjas!

Getting his end of the year medal from Coach Katie.

California Living....

April 29/30- Having fun with friends on the beach!  We met the Maud, Lars, Liam and Alexa on the beach.  It was a beautiful sunset.  The boys had fun running around and digging...like always!

Life in Coronado....this was a the Sand Castle of the day in front of the Del.  They are surely looking like some beach kiddos!
