Girl Scout Thinking Day
April 10- Tonight there was a girl scout event that Addison and I participated in. It was thinking day and each troop chose a country to learn about and then set up a booth to teach others. So the country that Addison's troop chose was Norway. Partly, mostly, because of the Frozen movie!
Back up a couple of weeks and we were at a book fair at the library. We were checking out and Addison gave the woman checking us out a compliment. She really like her necklace. The woman said it was a coin from Norway. Addi got excited and told her that her ancestors were from Norway and her girl scout troop was doing a project on Norway. Jane told us that she had some authentic traditional dresses from Norway and asked if we would like to use them for the event. What? Who, other than Addison, is able to make connections like this? The girl has a gift!
So, we went to her house and she let us borrow these amazing dresses! The dress that Addison wore was probably a 100 years old or more. The dress I wore was custom made for her aunt in 1969. They both fit amazingly well! Addison was an absolute doll in that dress! Jane was so sweet to let us use them! She didn't even know us! It was so nice to get to know her!

The Norwegian Girls!
Addison was able to carry the flag in the opening ceremony!
She is SERIOUSLY cute!
Kate and Addi...they are both Norwegian!
Our booth! I was able to put it together....fun crafty stuff! We really did have a great booth! Mary had a friend in Norway and sent all kinds of cool stuff!
I was trying to catch Addi in action from over the booth. I got busted! It is truly a "Ahh MOM!" moment!
Easter 2015
April 5th-
Easter was super fun at our house! It was pretty low key! We went to church, did an easter egg hunt there, came home and did a great easter egg hunt outside and inside and then played outside! It was a lot of fun. I was the best mom ever and forgot to defrost our ham....so we had burgers on the green egg! Thanks Daddy for saving me!

Easter baskets!
Landon was very excited about his "rescue bot" Everything is a rescue bot...really it is a transformer!
My beautiful family! Are they cute or what!
The Easter Bunny that visits Farndon court is so amazing! They hide eggs everywhere! We love them!!
Run for the Ridge
March 21- We participated in Run for the Ridge this morning as a FAMILY! Yes all of us ran a 5K! Addison and Bill took off and ran their own pace and Landon and I ran together! At 4 years only Landon finished his first 5k WITHOUT stopping! I was pretty impressed with my little guy!
This is a picture of Landon and I that Rich Condit took! He is awesome and takes lots of pics for Laurel Ridge! Thanks!!!
Landon is not too thrilled? But he was proud at the end!
My favorite three runners! Woohoo!
Addi and Landon after the race! Addison is all conditioned from track!

Postal Museum
Today we went into D.C. to check out the Postal Museum. It is so nice living close and being able to just go to a museum whenever we want. We can just pick what we want to learn about and then check it out! Today we decided that the post office would be fun! There were very few people in there leading me to believe that maybe D.C. is the place to spend spring break!
Addi checking out the stamps! They had these cool pull out frames with all the stamps in them! We have been looking for things having to do with Norway as we prepare for her Girl Scout event so we found a norwegian stamp! We even got to make our own "Cinderella" stamp. That is a stamp that isn't in circulation!
Driving a semi...one way the mail moves!
This is an old train mail car! We got to watch a little video...it was pretty neat!
Landon hauling some mail!
They had post office boxes from around the world!
Addi and Landon were espcially interested in a story about a dog. One that used to ride the train through the country. He had tags from all over on his little harness. They wanted to take a picture next to the replica!
Who knew that Amelia Earhart's flight suite was at the postal museum? So that was a neat find!
Looks a bit more like spring!
Time to Play!
April 1- Today we had some time just to play at home. That was good too!
Here Addison and Landon were pretending to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Landon had this whole plan. When Addison saw the picture she was so disappointed and said "It looks like we are kids with backpacks!"
There is always time for arts and crafts! Here Addison is making a stone for the garden. She and Landon had fun putting it together. It was a project we didn't get time for last summer!
I Loves these two kiddos so much! They really do get along great! It is fun to hear them play together!
Family Hike
March 30- So Bill took a couple of days off for Spring Break. Today we went on a hike to Mason Neck Park. We had been there before and had lots of fun. Today we were almost the only ones in the park. The kids had fun finding "creatures and treasures" on the beach. It is still really chilly but warmer than yesterday! It has been sort of nice not having to pack up to go somewhere for Spring Break! Especially since anywhere we would have driven would have been as cold!
Little Poser!
Another little poser!
I love that simple things bring my kids such joy. We have had a fun time hiking in this area and discovering new parks!
Kite Festival -Spring Break-
Kite Festival- March 28
We went into D.C. for the Kite Festival and it was FREEZING! Crazy cold! Bill said that with the windchill it was maybe 17 degrees? TOO COLD! We had fun despite the cold though. We bought some crappy kites cause I couldn't find ours but then the kids made some and they worked a lot better! So much better that they had to fly kites in the court when we got home!
This was a race that Addi and Landon did....they had a kite attached to them. It was funny to watch Landon try to turn around. HE had a great time though! There were some really neat kites. Some of them were huge! A fun festival for sure! The kick off to the Cherry Blossom Festival!
