January 29- So back when we were looking at flights home for Christmas we found some reasonable flights to Florida in January! Sounded like a great idea...Addi had some days off of school...perfect! Well, that was before the storm of the century hit the entire south. It was about the same temperature there as it was in Virginia! Not exactly the get away we were hoping for! But we were gonna make the best of it! We planned on picking Addison up early from school....well there was a delay. As we were trying to figure out how to get to the airport I called and offered up our seats if we could just rebook for another time! The flight the day before was cancelled so I thought it would be a full flight...nope! It never happens when you want it to! So we are still ready to go and about five minutes before Robyn got here to pick us up.....the flight was cancelled. So, we had to switch gears again. Addison hurried to get to the bus and go to school. When I came home Bill had cancelled everything so we were set! But we knew we would have a disappointed little girl....so we decided to drive west! When in doubt....drive west!
We decided to go back to the water park that we had gone to in the fall. We knew it would be something both Addi and Landon would love! We found a hotel with a pool and all was well in the world! It was a good little get away and the pool was warmer than it would have been in Florida! AND we tasted some of the best doughnuts ever! Apple doughnuts at the Apple House! YUM!
Who needs dolphins when you have Dad!
On our way home we stopped at the Luray Caverns! It was amazing....and perfect because our tour group had 8 people in it!
The pictures really can not do it justice! It was AMAZING! Truly a wonder!
My favorite part was there was a lake in there....it looked like it was really deep but it was just the reflection tricking you!
Addison and Landon really seemed to enjoy it! Addison chose a polished slice of rose quartz as her souvenir and she truly thinks it is a REAL diamond! In her mind she was given the Hope diamond! It is perfect! Landon picked out a stone frog! Why not? I love watching them learn and enjoy it! Addison OF COURSE found a friend in our tour group. She was a Grandma driving to South Carolina from Canada...she was very well entertained but very complimentary of Addison as well. She thought she was a lot older than a kindergartner and told us that we have a very bright little girl! I have to agree!
